Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z. by Kate Messner
Gianna has procrastinated on an important science project and now if she doesn’t bring up her grade she will lose her spot on the track team to a girl she can’t stand…will she make it???

This book was probably my least favorite. I thought it was quite boring, and didn’t understand it very well. But I guess that’s just my opinion.

I liked the fact that Gianna Z still got her leaf project done despite Bianca’s efforts to ruin Gianna’s project and her chance at racing at the sectional track meet. It was really neat that Gianna refused to turn in the project binder her mom put together, and make her own with Zig’s help. It was sad how Nonna had alzheimers disease. They must not have a lot of walnut trees in Vermont. Black walnut leaves were considered rare. Gianna got her’s from the Principal’s back yard. That was funny. I liked this book.

Like many of you have said, this book was slow paced. My favorite parts of the book involved Gianna & Nana. I liked that she had a friend that she could count on no matter what. We all need at least one friend in life who can help us through the sad “Nana” moments of life.

It’s Nonna,Mrs.Conkling.[Don't give your student,Emily, a hard time.]But, i think it was a good book for people who love trees.
